Mercury Vapor? Neon light?

Yesterday I broke a neon light on accident by stepping on it. Well I had my mom clean it up and I took a shower as soon as possible. When I came out the light was still there (since my mom thought at first the neon tube wasn't broken) and then I told her to get rid of it . . . well later I find it in the trash in the kitchen. I took the trash out as soon as possible. Well ever since yesterday I've been scared to even go into my room. I didn't even get the window opened til maybe 6 hours later and I didn't turn the heat off. I've been worried that my neon light might have mercury vapor after a lot of research and I'm scared! We basically did everything wrong one could do when cleaning something that releases mercury vapor. Also the light was white so I don't know if that helps at all. Is there anything I can do though about this? This is seriously freaking me out and I don't even know for sure if mercury vapor or anything like that was even in the light.

If there was mercury vapor what can I do? The tube was exposed in my room for maybe half an hour and another 15 minutes in the kitchen. My window has remained open a little bit and I just turned the heat off. Should I open all the windows in the house? Also how long? Can I never use anything in my room again?
