mercury vapor bulb for reptiles?

hey guys, i bought a mercury vapor bulb from my local home depot, and i wana know if i can use it for my reptiles, since i HEARD that it is a good substitute , now i wana know if all mercury vapor bulbs produce uv light for my beardies, or if i have to buy a specific brand or type
