edit:
hi fig (i checked your profile),
i'm still playing it through now, but i am beginning to see a strange sort of appeal...
it's certainly nice and relaxing coming through my headphones.
it all reminds me somewhat of this band:
magoo

The first one sounds like a really mellow techno
and the second one sounds like a scary symphony/orchestra-ish techno.
???
That's kinda weird.
I can't fully answer your question though because I've never heard of them before.

Deserter's Songs is a great album, and I don't like Snowflake Midnight much either. I have a friend who felt the same way about it and then suddenly "got" it, but that hasn't happened to me yet... should give it another chance, though. I also felt the lyrics were a bit cliched Mercury Rev... snowflakes, butterflies' wings, all this really delicate imagery, without much substance or meaning to it.

All Is Dream is a great album if you want another more like Deserter's Songs. The Dark Is Rising and Nite and Fog are on a par with Goddess on a Hiway and Opus 40, in my opinion.

PS. recognise me? The name change is confusing everyone today...
