I don't really know what to fully make of this placement. It is trine my moon, sextile venus, and square pluto.

Anyone have any insights?

Hi Sparrowbird ....feeling inspired after reading Ro's long-butt Question and answers ? lol....;) j/k

I ll give it a try.

Since mercury is the planet of communication , logic and cold reasonings , in the sign of eccentricity , logical and detachment of Aquarius , this is indeed a good place for Mercury to be in. Mercury in Aquarius is fond of ideas and exchanges of ideas , as well as fond of learning all things , especially when it comes dealing with oddities and strange subjects. This aspect also gives great visions. In 3rd house, the strength of this placement is further enhanced since 3rd house is the natural house of Mercury . This planetary placement alone may give you a gift in communicating and an ability to learn things fast.

Now Mercury trine Moon indicates that you are able to express your emotions well , verbally that is. Also, this indicates that you usually have a nice manners when communicating with other people. Since moon is also concerned with memory ( all things that are in the past ) , this aspect tend to give a retentive memory.Although your mercury in aquarius can be blunt and shocking , it trining the moon likely makes you a smart , but soft-spoken individual. Of course this tendency may be influenced by other aspect to the Moon or Mercury or both. In this case, you have mercury square pluto , and both are in fixed signs. Mercury square Pluto sometimes inclines to having morbid thoughts , and tend to give rise to obsessive and compulsive tendencies. This aspect is also an indication for grudges holding and notorious obstinancy ( due to both in fixed signs ) However , Mercury square Pluto can put to excellent use when it comes dealing with sniffing out hidden matters and secrets. There is a keen eye for observing and digging up buried facts and the most underlying meanings of things. However, one should be careful not to become obsessive and overly suspicious. This tendency again might be softened by harmonious aspect to Mercury, hence the Moon.

Also, Mercury sextile Venus is another harmonious aid , this aspect gives grace to speech and if utilised well , one can become a very well-liked and convincing speaker ( since sextile asks one to be actually motivated and take action to be effective ) . So Mercury trine moon, sextile venus and square Pluto , I think this is a nice balance between harmony and challenge. Use the trine and sextile as tools to work on the square and use the square to grow ;)
