Mercury from thermometer spilled in drawer and seeped into wood?

Hi guys,
2 yrs ago an old thermometer was sitting in my drawer and broke. There were small beads of silver mercury all over. I actually had no idea what it was and played with it in my hands for a while. A couple of days later my brother told me what it was and i freaked out and cleaned up the best i could. BUT some of the beads spread into liquid and seeped into the wood at the bottom of the drawer and stained the wood and the only way i could remove it was with a wet paper towel. The stain disappeared after a lot of scrubbing but im still paranoid that there is still trace amounts of mercury embedded into the wood of my nightstand not visible to the human eye. And if there is, could it release harmful vapors over long periods of time? I've slept next to this nightstand every night for the past 2 yrs and spend a lot of time in my room. Is this something i should worry about, especially since i never open that drawer and the mercury(if there is any) is in a confined space? am i just being paranoid?
