Mercury Cougar hook up to Kenwood Deck?

I have a mercury cougar 2000 and i need to know if i need a wiring adaptor to hook it up to a kenwood deck(16 PIN) or if i can just match the wire color codes.. the guys at the store sold me a harness that doesn't even fit in anything... any help would be appreciated!
 
you will need a wiring harness, so call crutchfield at 1-800-555-8211 They can hook you up with the right wiring harness with easy instruction on installing.
