...is fully extended? Hello, I have an older merc 80hp outboard that runs great. Well, as long as you want to idle. I think I have a severe linkage problem. when I start it in neutral, it's actually ingaged in forward. I took it to a guy who adjusted the idle and that's all fine, but the main accellerator/shifter is not.
It also won't go into reverse. It acts like it's tinning up somehow. really quite strange. It'll rev up, but won't pop in.
Now if i'm on the water and manually pull the fuel assembly (or whatever it's called) it will throttle up all the way and not miss a beat.....
BUT- if I use the controller to fully throttle it up it will throttle up most of the way and if i REALLY push it hard it kills it. I honestly don't think it's getting too much fuel. I think it's a linkage problem but I don't know what to do.
Any help is REALLY appreciated.
thanks,
Clint
