I have a Mercury 50hp 4 stroke EFI motor on my 2001 Tracker Pro V 16 boat. Boat runs great for the first 10 min or so then it starts to sputter and die. When the motor is sputtering it sounds like its missing/not firing all cylinders. It will slow down to a crawl at wot sputter/run like crap then die. Upon restart it continues to sputter until dying. Let the boat sit for a while and try to start it and it runs great again for about 10 min and dies again.
I have had this problem the last 2 times I took it out. I think its a fuel delivery problem but I dont know where to start. Any suggestions from someone who knows what they are doing with a boat motor would be great!
Its a 4 stroke so no oil gas mix and its EFI (fuel injected) so no carbs. Using Champion plugs at a gap of .040 (only specs I could find anywhere).
