Although I had much potential, I sadly only left school with one higher due to my on going illness through school years. The reality is, I was only able to sit one higher. I was very ill and unable to attend 4 of my final exams and due to on going illness, hadn't been in classes for most of the year.
Although I am now at college, the art school I've dreamed about attending is now longer open to me as I need 4 highers and have only 1.
I was hoping to try and apply next year and maybe build a case for myself as I am not unintelligent and believe myself to have the potential to do very well in art school. However I don't know how I am meant to do this and whether universities are sympathetic over such things. I have a lot of evidence that I had serious issues and my teachers all thought I would have done very well had I not been so poorly.
Is there such a thing as an appeal over mental illness in the UK and is it possible through this to be given the opportunity to apply for higher education?
Obviously I'll get in touch with the art school but I would like to know if this has been done and as there is little information on the net, I'm in hope someone can tell me.
