(myself included)? I would venture to guess, its because women are often intimidating and unapproachable in MOST social circumstances where men are looking for singles; at bars they group together, as if to say ,"don't approach". I also think a reason is because men are afraid that showing interest in a woman wil be interpreted as sexual harassment, given that all it takes is a woman to say "harassment" with no evidence needed to get a guy in trouble. Add to that that women are often really mean and nasty when turning a guy down...these are my thoughts
