Memory on an 8gb Geek Squad flash drive?

I had some little video project I made before on my flash drive, I deleted it but it still says that I only have 1.6 gb free (just like I did when it was on there). I removed it and put it back in but it still shows that it's empty but only had 1.6 gb available of the 8. Any clue on what to do?

I'm on Mac OS X 10.4.11 if that helps.
