Melted Sticker on Car Paint?

I just bought a used car and the guy before me put 2 stickers directly on the paint. One came off fine but the other was placed on the gas cap which is made of plastic so it infused an outline of it from the sun. I took it to an auto body repair shop and they said it would cost $75 to paint over it but can't guarantee the paint will match.

So it's a silver VW and I don't want to put another sticker over it, since that will just melt too....any other ideas of how to fix it/make it better?
