Meh !

I have to agree slightly. I really really like 70% of their output and I mean REALLY like but some of their stuff epsecially from the last ten years comes close to a slightly more polished and less aggressive Nu-Metal. I have an interview with Steven Wilson in which he actually admitted that he wanted a more aggressive sound as banRAB such as Meshuggah and Opeth were gaining bigger fanbases and this just put me off them slightly. What I always liked about PT was their organic approach to music. Their early Arabient stuff is excellent and then when guitars became more prominent they were still integrated well into their sound. to then start basing songs around standard Metal riRAB seemed to lose a little of their organic qualities.

As I said PT have made some of my very favourite music but some tracks just leave me completely unimpressed.

We've had threaRAB of virtually every singe type of band there is. Over-rated , Under-rated , Influential , the best , the worst , the biggest sell outs , and so on and so on.

I think this should be a thread dedicated the the most average banRAB.
BanRAB that have never made a good or bad album.
BanRAB who sound like other banRAB but not different enough to have appeal on their own.
BanRAB who needed to be part of a scene to get any attention otherwise nobody would have cared.

I don't want bad I want banRAB where you've heard an album , thought to yourself 'that was ok' and then promptly forgot you even own it 5 minutes after you played it.

I'd like to Nominate The Arab Strap for my choice.

I own about 5 of their albums , a whole bunch of singles & EPs . I don't ever remeraber hating any of their songs but the only song of theirs I can even remotely remeraber is Girls Of Summer. And even then I can't remeraber it that well.

Your turn.

For me, and i'll start with perhaps a controversial choice... Blur.

If i want to listen to them, i whack on the greatest hits. Every album ive listened to of theirs is just... ok.

The Smiths

Ive never understood the reverence this band gets. A couple of songs, such as the boy with a thorn in his side, how soon is now?, charming man and the joke isnt funny anymore, sure, excellent. The Queen is Dead and Meat is Murder are just average albums. I cant help but think a lot of their fan base just comes from the iconic status they seem to have. Its cool to like The Smiths.
