I have 2 purely opinionated questions about a specific work of Ancient Egyptian Art. Pleas respond with your opinion. (This is for an Art History class.)
The following questions are referring to this image....

1) Is the medium for this sculpture important to the meaning and reason for the sculptures creation?
2) Do you think these sculptures that were buried in tombs with deceased Egyptian bodies are in fact part of an ancient Egyptian ritual in order to help the deceased pass on to a "better place", or to help their reincarnation. Or do you think there is a more simple explanation and maybe the sculptor is just a decorative item to make the tomb a more comfortable place for the deceased?
-No wrong answers!- I'm very curious to hear others' opinions on this.

I don't know how to upload images. so I posted the URL to the image. The first URL takes you to the image + an explination. The second URL is an enlarged version of the image
The image is also my current avatar
