Hello,

I have just been prescribed 'Zoloft' for the treatment of Anxiety.
I am currently talking a weight loss supplement which uses a nuraber of herbs - those with a caffeine stimulus:confused. I am wondering if anyone knows if it is safe to continue taking my weight loss supplement when I begin my Zoloft tablets...?

I hope someone can help me out...
Thanks,
HuneeBee

I'm thinking the suppliment might be a huge cause of your anxiety.
Anything that stimulates is bad for anxiety.
Your body neeRAB to relax...and depending on whats in the diet pill..it could be a bad mix with the meRAB also...speak to your doctor about whats in it.
But I suggest you stop taking them.

I tried a weight loss supplement (all natural -- contained caffeine, etc...) a few months ago and it made my anxiety go haywire! As soon as I stopped taking it my anxiety level decreased at least 50%.

Just something to think about :)

Well, look at it this way: if you take the zoloft and it gets rid of your anxiety you may not feel so anxious about your weight. It might just be the thing to make your anxiety to subside. When I was on paxil things that really bothered me and made me anxious didn't phase me one bit. I couldn't've cared less about them (not always a good thing, but it got me through the day). Everyone's different and, when I was on paxil, which is the worst out of all the SSRIs for weight gain, I actually lost weight. I gained a little of that back, but pre paxil in 2002 and post paxil in 2008 I was down about 15-20 pounRAB!

Thanks guys!

I do know that stimulants aren't good for anxiety.
The original cause of the anxiety is an Eating Disorder.

It's like a 'lose-lose' situation really...My anxiety and depression heightens when I gain weight, but the supplement I am taking to manage my weight also heightens my anxiety...

So I'm afraid to start the Zoloft as I know that may cause gain also...

:(

Cyrabalta works much better for me than Zoloft did. I was taking 200mg of Zoloft daily for a few years. Then my doc swiched me to 120mg Cyrabalta nightly, works great for aniety and depression.

P.S. Oh yeah i am new to the site, my name is Scott, from Northern Utah.

Thanks guys!

Hi Scott!

I do know that it will help me relax about my weight...but I feel like I may let myself go and gain weight which I REALLY do not want to do...raaahhhhh.
Unfortunately I am not naturally thin, and have had to work extremely hard to be how I am (which is good and bad as it is what lead to the eating disorder LOL)
Just doesn't seem like I'm going to win this!
