I am seeing my ENT next week for my sinus and allergy problems. for the past couple weeks i can feel something brewing in my sinuses....lots of pain, pressure and brain fog all of the time. now i have a sore throat and PND.

I also am on allergy injections along with using the neil med sinus wash. i take zyrtec d, flonase, and astepro. the astepro was the last thing i was prescribed, and it worked wonderfully for about 6 months. Now I am back to feeling crappy again. Are they any other newer nasal sprays that could be prescribed other than astelin and astepro because they are no longer cutting it for me? the zyrtec-d is no longer cutting it either. i'm wondering if allergra-d or something else might do the trick.

if you found a medication that works great for you please let me know. thanks

Definitely, you might want to try a different antihistamine. Claritin or Allegra are both good options, many people find Allegra is more effective but there's no way to be sure until you try.

Also, have you ever tried NasalChrom? It's a different kind of nasal spray, based on the mast cell blocker chromolyn sodium. It's actually available over the counter. Unfortunately, it neeRAB to be used 4 times a day, rather than once like the steroid sprays, but many people find it very effective.

Also, what are you doing to reduce your exposure to triggers? What are your triggers?

No, PND of any origin can cause a sore throat. Have you tried gargling with warm salt water?

If you are getting a sinus infection, it may have nothing to do with your allergies. Have you tried 2 Zyrtec a day - one AM and one PM? I do that when I have a flare up of my allergies. That usually takes care of it in a day or two.

that's good to know regarding the PND. im hoping it's not an infection. i see the ENT on monday and the nurse called me in a script for augmenten. problem is anytime i do get a sinus infection, the bacteria tend to be resistant to augmenten since i have used it numerous times. if they do prescribe it to me, they usually say ''call back in 3 days if t isn't working.'' 9 times out of 10 i end up calling back, and then they prescribe levaquin. i decided to hold off on the script until it's confirmed that i have an infection since i don't see any colored mucus.

it's crazy, but for as much allergy medication as i plus the sinus rinse and injections i still get 2 sinus infections a year. my last infection was in june so i am right on schedule lol. i moved to florida from maryland 4 years ago, and they did my allergy testing about 2.5 years ago so i shouldn't need to be retested anytime soon.

the reason i think it's allergy related is b/c i live in FL and pollen counts have been really high lately. ragweed is the worst for me. i start feeling it once it's in the moderate range; plus it's been so dry. i've tried taking 2 zytrec a day but not consistent enough. i'll have to try it.

question, if you have PND causing a sore throat does that necessarily mean you have an infection? so far my mucus is all clear. might not be a sinus infection despite the bad pain and pressure...what do u think?

Well, the ENT said I don't have any green mucus but lots of clear mucus and allergic swelling. he said that is giving me a lot of sinusitis. So he gave me omnaris, pantonase, allergra-d, and 5 days of levaquin. this should do the trick, hopefully :)

yeah i fluctuate between claritin and zytrec these days. it's been years since i used allegra, but maybe that's what i need right now. nasalcrom never worked for me, and i used the entire bottle. it has a great sprayer though. i have also used singular while no luck either.

i think i am just running out of options.
