I have a friend that was hit by a car and drug several feet he has terrible road burns and both legs are messed up, they have him in a medicated coma and he at this point can barely open his eyes he has had 3 surgerys in 5 days and more to come. He was amazingly very alert at the time of the accident.
WHAT EXACTLY IS A MEDICATED COMA AND WHAT DOES IT DO TO YOU?

PLEASE PRAY FOR HIM

A medicated coma is just that. It is a coma that is induced by medication. Your friend is being kept in a coma so that his body has a chance to heal without putting anymore stress on his body. They can keep him quiet with the medication and this is better for him. They probably need him to lay still and it's hard to do if you are awake.

He also won't feel the pain so bad if he is in a coma. If they need to clean out the dirt and grit from his skin, it will be easier if he is in a coma also. There are probably many medical reasons for keeping him in the coma. Often it is to help keep him just plain alive.

Depending on the severity of his injuries and how hard he tries to heal, will depend on how well he gets. The coma shouldn't do anything wrong, but how he reacts depends on how he handles being sedated for that long.

good luck to him. It sounds like he has a long recovery ahead of him...
