im in my 2nd year at UBC and im wondering what are my chances of getting into med school??
i go 2 a REALLY competitive uni so good grades are hard to come by since the exams are unreasonably difficult most of the time. last year first semester my average was 57%, which i know is so crap
but i really did try...next semester my average was 68%, so an 11% increase...i took a couple of chemistry courses over the summer, which to my surprise i was above average in both getting an A in the harder one and a B+ in the other one..i have in the past at this university got the highest on a final exam, an A so i know it is possible for me to do well and i didnt study any differently for that exam than i had on any other exam. so im in my 2nd year now and im hoping to average at least 68-70% this term once finals are done but i had some hard courses this term like organic chem and im not sure if ill do well or not to boost my average higher...i know my grades arent stellar but can anyone please tell me if i even stand a chance of competing for med school or is it really just a long shot????? is there anything else i can do 2 higher my chances of acceptance????? i really am trying my best, pulling all nighters, staying up late to learn everything, sacrificing pretty much no social life but nothing seems to be working if the university is well know, would it higher my chances???? cuz UBC is in the top 30 in the world i think and # 1 in canada which is what ive heard
