media player problems?

i recently transfered a bunch of videos i downloaded from itunes onto my new laptop from the family desktop. Now when i try playing them they don't play, my friend suggested getting quicktime, and the same story. my brother told me to get VCL player and same problem. my laptop is running windows 7 and the desktop was XP. how can i get my videos to play? thanks
