MEDIA influence on women in society?

attitude

so you know how media can have a negative influence on women (eg., make them feel insecure bout their bodies, make them want to go on diets, etc), what are some ways to stop this type of media influence?
your help is appreciated <3

You know women can stop this over night. STOP PLACING SUCH A HIGH VALUE ON BEAUTY!
Who is it buying the celeb mags, the fashion mags and clothes make up and other drivvel they throw at you telling you it's the latest thing and because kate moss has one in grazia it's a must have?

I'm so sick of hearing this - I caught a show on C4 the other week about sex education which basically turned into an hour of women are being to heavily influenced by porn and the expectations men have of a womans body because of it!!

It's all tosh, I'm sorry girls but you seem to be the only ones on the face of this planet who can get away with blaming your own short comings on your own creations. You buy the stuff, so you control the market - if you don't want to buy into it don't buy it and take some chuffin responsibility - you wanted equality NOW ACT LIKE IT.

REFUSE to buy the magazine that portray unrealistic photos of women or write and protest and ask they present realistic women.
REFUSE to buy into what the media is doing to women and be yourself.
REFUSE to blindly follow fashion trends.
And remember if you have children to protect them from media influence.

It's not just those stupid fashion magazines, you know. In the seventies and eighties and even part of the nineties, commercials portraying people using some sort of household cleaner or domestic product tried to incorporate men doing chores around the house at least 30% of the time. Now they don't even bother; the person doing the chores is always female. What is that supposed to tell girls about their expectations around the house? Argh, keeping the place clean is not MY job alone. A vagina is just a vagina, it is not the reproductive organ of the menial task-doer.

And it's hard to avoid advertising, people. Even if you don't buy the products in question, advertisements still subconciously affect you. There have been a lot of studies about that.

You can turn women into "independent thinkers" instead of a bunch of SHEEP.

But that's unlikely to happen.

Here's an idea.

Women could stop consuming this media which supposedly negatively influences them.

Women get the media they want.

If there wasn't a market for this rubbish, then the publishers wouldn't be able to sell it.
