Mechanic got oil all over my engine?

I took my car for an oil change and when I drove home, I saw smoke coming from the engine. I looked under the hood and the goof got oil all over the whole engine and some on the windshield. I phoned them and they are going shampoo engine but i want to know if this can harm the engine later on.
 
Done right steam cleaning the motor could cause any harm... BUT in your place I'd be wondering just where the oil was coming from.

I can see someone spilling a small amount of oil over the valve cover to the point it drips on an exhaust manifold and smokes a bit...but what you're describing sounds like an whole another ballgame.

Oil misting onto you windshield screams like someone left something major loose...Like the freaking oil filter. Maybe some stoned out couldn't I care less about what I'm doing type minimum wage earning moron didn't bother to put the oil filler cap on right.

Depends on how much oil leaked out from where so...YES this sort of screw up can cause BIG TIME problems down line.
