bearing related-not engine. Guess-cost? '04 Acura TL - 6 speed manual transmission. Mechanic indicated that the problem was no imminent and would not harm the engine to continue to drive with it temporarily. Any ideas or ball park costs on replacing a non-engine bearing?

Price can vary depending on amount of labor charged. Changing alternators on some Acuras can be expensive. Any shop will give you an estimate over the phone. Put in a good one.

whining noise can and could be any part that moves with the belt...chase it down with a can of WD 40.. crank car let run spray a round where you think sound is coming from if you spray it and it stops then you know what the problem is and what part is going bad... then you call a few shops and ask how much to replace it or do it yourself
