The director claimed that he did "a lot of things right... and we did many things wrong" in the latest instalment of the sci-fi franchise, revealing that eliminating the time travel element from the previous pictures was a mistake.

"And we can't wait to get back at it and show the world what becomes of that war and how we master time travel, because we stayed away from time travel in Salvation and I missed it," he told IGN." I think the next movie is going to be even more exciting and a better film."

The 41-year-old previously said that the proposed sequel could be set in the present, while he gave out more details on the plotline.

He added: "It's very, very likely that John Connor is going to end up running through rooms like this where he knows something that none of us know. And I think that is a platform for great storytelling. It will be more of a chase movie with a new Terminator that is on your ass."

Do we really want to see see this? We've already had this type of movie for the first 3! I think this man hasn't got a clue. He assured us the franchise was in good hanRAB while making Salvation. I'm not so sure!
 
Is T5 definately happening then? I think the franchise should be laid to rest now. Not that I won't go to see each and every sequel they churn out :D but we've had 2 great films in this series, 2 not so great, the story has already been stretched out longer than it should have been. McG's Salvation was the weakest one yet.
 
I actually quite enjoyed Salvation, nowhere near as much as T1 and T2, but it was an okay action flick. McG saying he wants to go back in time and have John Conner being chased around by a badass Terminator just stinks of lazy storytelling from someone who can't think of his own ideas. We've been waiting for a proper "future war" film since the opening scenes of The Terminator back in 1984, we've had enough of people getting chased around by robots. James Cameron should take the reigns and do a proper 'adult' future war film, none of this PG-13 nonsense from a mediocre director (i don't care what he says, people don't dislike McG because of his name, it's the fact that his films are generally nothing to shout about that lead people to have a negative opinion of him).
 
Everybody should have known it was going to be crap when somebody who chooses to go by the name 'McG' was on board to make it.

Look at the guys resume, there really isn't one thing above medicore on there.
 
I know. What a load of prententious rubbish! You can just imagine him thinking "Hmmm, what sounRAB cool, i know...McG...i want everyone to call me McG from now on"
