Mazda with possible engine problems or BMW with unknowns?

I'm looking at a 2006 Mazda RX8 with about 65k miles or a 2003 BMW 325i with 95k miles. I've heard so much the RX8's engine problems and how they can be expensive, like 6 or 7 thousand. But the warranty is 8yr/100k miles now? I would like to add some performance parts, but I want it to last as well. Just looking for advice.

Well in this case, both cars are expensive to maintain and repair if something were to go wrong, so we have to pick the lesser of two evils. In my own opinion, I would go with the BMW because of their reputation of reliability. Although German cars take a bit more to maintain, they run pretty much forever, especially the BMW line-up. When it comes to aftermarket parts, you should be able to find a decent assortment for the BMW, although not as much as the RX8, but it's worth it in the long run.
