Vw Eos.

More practical, cheaper to own, FWD so it is drivable in snow and safer in rain. The Mazda is RWD and only comes with summer performance tires. Horrible in rain and impossible in snow. And the Mazda is harder to take care of because it is the only production car out right now with a Rotary engine. Do you know what that is? Exactly.

VW Eos is also less common and just as fast as the Automatic version Mazda RX-8.

BMW is very expensive to fix or maintain.

by thway, all of these cars you are looking at REQUIRE Premium fuel 91 octane or better.

I would not recommend an RX-8 to any new driver. The car is great, but requires special treatment which is different from that of a piston engined vehicle. One thing the rotary engine requires is to not be lugged, which new drivers will do simply because they are not familiar with a narrow power band performance engine. Drive it like a family sedan and it won't last long.
