Mazda RX8 bad mileage, why?

My car was getting very bad gas mileage, around 170-190miles per tank....now I replaced the coils wires and plugs, now its getting around 215. What else can be causing this? Im using premium 93 fuel.... it doesn't change depending on which station i go to. We don't have non ethanol fuel in Massachusetts right now either. I know people with RX8's that get around 260miles on a full tank with 80k mile son the engine... I have 53k. Also its a 2004 RX8 automatic if that makes a difference.

My 2008 RX-8 never got above 18mpg no matter what fuel i used. It frequently only got 16mpg. I was overjoyed if it got above 17mpg....the car isnt meant to be efficient and the Auto trans is worse yet...it is the price you pay for all that power and redline 9,000 rpm from a 1.3 liter non turbo engine. Small engine, big horsepower=bad fuel economy.

Ethanol is counter productive! When converting cars to E-85 for example it becomes imperative that larger injectors be used. So even if you are not running E-85 the ethanol in the gas that you are using may be the sole reason for the mileage problem.
Concerning cars not designed to run on ethanol that are forced to use it I found the following quote-
"so they experience a 10-15% drop in fuel economy"
I don't know of a fix on this problem, maybe Mazda is working on it right now. Because like it or not non ethanol fuels are going to be a thing of the past.
