Mazda RX 8 Engine issues/mysteries?

This is an exact timeline. Bought car and one week later after a 6 hour trip the engine blew... Or something did because they replaced my motor. During the trip the chech coolant light persistantly came on. I'm guessing the interstate driving had it good and hot. Fastforward to second oil change with new motor. Az of yet no issues. So, I diy the oil and let out some tranny fluid mistakenly at first. No biggie. Finish the oil change properly and add back a bit of tranny fluid. A bit much I think..... Just a millimeter or two over the cold reading mark. Since that day everytime I screw it on real good, even for 30 seconds or so, I can smell a definite burning smell. Rarely I can see a bit of smoke but everyday the smell. Even on normal driving for about an hour will give the smell but after I stop. In race mode it's immediate. Also there is a noticeable loss of lower rpm power, even in first but once it hits higher it'll go as it did except joined with a haunting aroma. So I've no clue of even a startig point and there is no way I'm letting a dealership loose on this thing. Side note: I did switch from performance K&N oil filter to a regular filter but people have said this shouldn't really affect performance or gas mileage which seems to have gotten slightly worse. Something is just a bit mote sluggish now about the car. When I let off the gas it feels as if something tries to slow the car down. Maybe that is paranoia bt the smell is 100 percent fraying my nerves. Any advice or maybe hints of what to watch for could at least set me in a certain direction. And to boot the darn check coolant light still comes on if I do 70 or more for...... About 2 minutes then when I slow down it'll go off. Yet all gauges are proper and fluid levels are checked. HELP!!!!

Check the tranny fluid hot and you'll see the correct level. It expands when hot. Too much puts seals at risk. When they blow, you replace them.
