Can someone please explain to me how the auto manual "paddle shifters" work on the RX8? What years of the model is it available on?
I would rather have this than an automatic to get more RPM's but don't really want to deal with a manual with stop and go traffic. What do you think I should do?
so the rev limiter with the paddle shifters is still low? i wanna be able to turn however many rpm's my mood wants me to :)

hi, i believe that all automatic transmission transmission rx8s came with paddle shifters. there may be a few 4 speed auto's which didn't have paddle shifters but all atx equipt rx8s with 6 speeds had paddle shifters.
the rx8s rev limiter was actually cut 1500 rpm on all automatics. they are also reduced in power. 212 vs 238 i believe.
i would get a manual for the reason you stated. for the extra revs. the only reason i wouldn't get a manual is if you a. commute where you have to sit in bumper to bumper traffic or b. have alot of hills where you live. ie. san francisco
look, if you can drive a stick you'll get better with practice and the rx8 has about the best MT around. either way awsome car!
