I'm looking to buy a mazda mp3. the person im looking at who owns it has a turbo kit and a bov on it. i know its a 2.0 liter. should i be worried about the turbo applying too much boost and causing to much wear and tear on the engine? also how much boost would be acceptable to set on it?? thanks

if the person who installed the kit set it to a high boost pressure you should be concerned as most people wont bother to replace the stock pistons with low comp. ratio turbo pistons. also some people don't bother to install an oil cooler or intercooler which you want if the boost pressure is high say over 7 or 8 psi. if not too high it should run good for a long time provided its adjusted and assembled well. if you put a lot of boost to N.A. pistons your likely to get detonation even with intercooling and good fuel/ign management. the stress on the bottom end is great to at high comp. ratios when boosting but thats not your biggest concern, knock is what you want to worry about. if he put in turbo pistons or just set it to a low pressure and set it up well as far as fuel/ign goes you shouldn't have to worry. either way you may need high octane fuel. good luck.
