I have a friend with a 2001 Mazda Millenia S that blows smoke on startup. It's throwing the following codes-
P0302, Cyl. 2 misfire
P0421, warm up efficiency bank 1 bellow threshold
P0431, bank 2
They use low grade gas all the time. I strongly advise against it, but they don't seem to listen. I'm also not sure if they're using synthetic oil. Am I correct in thinking that the constant use of low grade fuel is the likely culprit here?
It does matter what type of gas is used, as it is supercharged and it very clearly states it requires 93 octane. The ECU is programmed to run correctly on 93 octane ONLY, NOT any lower grade gas, as it has forced induction.
