well a while back i got some water into the spark plug and the check engine light came on, i switch out the spark plugs and wires and the light went off. week later the light would randomly come on, then it would turn off. it been about a year and now the light is always on, and when i took it to auto zone and they did the diagnostic test that what they told me, what do i do now i don't want to get cheated out a lot of money for something that can be easily fixed especially now that money is tight?

On a Miata this means only 1 thing - the Catalytic Converter is damaged and it needs to be replaced. They do not tolerate misfires well on this car. Use a dealer part as the aftermarket "direct fit" replacements require extensive modification to fit properly (been there, done that). You should probably change out the O2 sensors at the same time, just to be thorough.
