They are held in by an adhesive.
when u take them off and paint them make sure u get some 3M double sided Tape in a red package dont get the cheap one i belive there for outdoor. Tape them to the back of the emblem and with a pen cutter start taking off the over done parts clean the section with windex not the 99c window cleaner or rubbing Alch and place back and ur set
