okay just bought a 1996 mazda 323 astina shades and its crapped its self...

when you go to excellerate it has no go but when you get up some speed eventually its fine. it has also backfired a few times...

it was sitting undriven for 2 months and oil was over full we have drained and replaced the oil and cleaned the spark plugs with no change...

any ideas on what it could be
its actually the 2.0L v6.

I suspect a timing belt problem, or maybe even worse - Mazda Complaint.
Which is what I call it. Others call it crankshaft failure. It is caused by a mechanic failing to put the key back in the crankshaft pulley right. This is not a manufacturing defect, it is caused by a unskilled inattentive mechanic.
I only mention this (Mazda Complaint) because the timing belt on the Mazda engines of the 1.5 family is not that hard to do. But if done wrong it will cost you.
So if you do not know the timing belt has been done on schedule, get it done. It may solve your problem.
