I have a mazda 626 98 and it has been a good car until last year it started giving me trouble so i had to replace the transmission, which was a pain. Then for awhile it was fine, but then a few months later it started ticking (i guess you can call it that), and when you open up the hood the engine is shaking (i guess from the ticking or somehow linked to it) and now it will start but then it won't stay on, it will shake violently and then cut off, and the check engine light has come on also, it had new oil, oil is leaking because it was starting to show on the front of the engine and the spark plugs and wires have been replaced also. So now its parked and has been for a few months now. I have no clue what is wrong and I need to have it back next month because I need to go out of town...

does anyone have any idea of what it could be based on what I described and if so can you tell me how much it might cost and how long it might take to fix???

I am now looking for a new car because this car has been nothing but a burden.

thanks in advance...

Spray some soapy water on your vacuum lines. There is a back pressure transducer valve (it looks like a disk on the top of the engine) make sure you spray those lines too. Check your egr and pcv valves. My guess is you have a vacuum leak.

go to your local garage an have them check the fuel pump, cpu/ecu, if its not none of them ask them to hook it up to a diagnostics machine.
