i have a 1996 mazda 626 chronos lx and it wont change to 4th gear it just revs constantly meaning i can drive over 80 or the engine will slowly overheat. i got an answer to this question already it was that the solenoid , or gear may be burnt, he said pull the dipstick and smell for burning. which i did and i smelled burning.then he said put some of the tranny fluid on you finger and rub, your feeling for grains or stickiness, if you feel grains or stickiness your in trouble, because the gears are damage or dirty has contaminate the tranny but i felt no grains or stickiness how much would this cost to fix??
