I know I may be asking mostly mazda owners but I am in a limbo right now, I am between getting a new mazda 3 or new Impreza. The reason it's a tough choise is because both cars have something I really would want.

Mazda has the styling, the better acceleration, and slightly more comfy interior

Impreza has the AWD ( I live in the midwest so this is actually a big one), and the styling can be helped out just a bit with the underspoiler and what-not but would have to rely on that for a new car to look decent.

Thoughts?

i personally own a mazda 3, 4 door sedan, 2006 standard. its not the top model but quite close and i love it. as far as comparing the 2 cars, i really like the look of the subaru impreza as well but have never driven one. I know here it would have cost me way more to buy the subaru with the same features compared to the mazda. To be totally honest with you having the awd would make winter driving easier but as long as you aren't a total moron driving in snow and on ice isn't that difficult, i find that the mazda handles really well, but if you're looking to go flying around corners and want to be an idiot about driving your new expensive vehicle then maybe the awd subaru is your best bet. (i live in bc in the interior and we do get a fair amount of snow in the winter)

I agree with you.
The Mazda is more fun to drive and better on gas and acceleration. And the Subaru does have AWD and is safer and cheaper to maintain.

Both are reliable. If it snows a lot in your area, than the Impreza is the way to go. If it only snows maybe 5 days a year, then just get the Mazda.

The mazda is a little more swanky but at the end of the day if you have got some twisty or slippery roads, the mazda would run out of capabilities really quickly where as the subaru with there brilliant AWD system would keep on going and giving and gripping way after the mazda had understeered itself off the road or the driver had got sick of the car leaning on the outside front wheel during hard conering. Mazda may be a good product but is totallly out classed in ride, road holding, handling, driver involvment, and active saftey.
