U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., whose whereabouts and exact medical condition have been a mystery for several weeks, is at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., “for extensive inpatient evaluation for depression and gastrointestinal issues,” the clinic announced this evening.
The full text of the statement, which was confirmed by a Mayor Clinic spokeswoman:
"CongressmanJesse Jackson Jr. has arrived at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., for extensive inpatient evaluation for depression and gastrointestinal issues.
"Further information will be released as Congressman Jackson's evaluation proceeds.
"Congressman Jackson and his family are grateful for the outpouring of support and prayers that have been received throughout his care.
"NOTE: No additional updates are expected this weekend."
