Iv'e been on retin-a micro for 4 days now. When does the peeling usually start?Right now little zits are popping out in places where there were none before.I only have acne on my chin, right now its tight and feels rough. My chin isnt getting the larger pimples just tiny ones,is that normal? You'd think being 52 i'd be past this problem.I guess my face is making up for lost time since i had no acne problems in my teens. This is so frustrating, neither of my siblings have this problem. They just pooh pooh me when i tell them i cant go out cause my face is a mess.I just wish they'd understand for once ,what its like instead of thinking im just a fruitcake.I know i probably got along way to go before i see any results. My hubby's none to happy with me right now because i wont go out anywhere with him.I wish he'd understood, but its seems to be really hard for ppl who dont have this problem to sympathize.I'd like to hear from any retin-a micro users out there, your experiences good or bad. Thanks for listening.:(

hey there,

i used retin-a micro quite a few years ago. (i am 27 now with cystic acne). it was extremely drying to my face without helping with the breakouts (especially around the corners of my mouth!). my skin became very dry/peely pretty soon after i began using it (maybe within a week or two). i had to start using it every other day. as i recall, it didn't help my acne, but i don't think it aggravated it either. i gave it about six months or so before i stopped using it.

but i think you should stick with it for now. so many of these products take time before you begin to see results (most prescriptions suggest at least 3-4 months for full results), and a lot of people do have good luck with retin-a. retin-a products are also good for mature skin, as far as anti-aging goes, so you may benefit from that as well.

i know what you mean about people without acne being unsympathetic. i have lived with acne for 17 years now, and it's had a huge effect on my life. i feel like people think i'm just complaining annoyingly when i vent about my acne, and if they don't know me as well as my closer frienRAB they tell me i should try proactive (as if that would solve it all!). when i have bad breakouts i don't want to go anywhere! especially if i have a huge cyst somewhere really terrible, like right between the eyes or the middle of my forehead! ugh!

hope this helps you feel a lil better!

Thankyou, for replying to my post, was beginning to think no one was going to reply.I've had cystic acne in my early 20s,went on Accutane and it cleared up for few yrs. After awhile pimples would pop up here and there.About 3 yrs ago i used retin-a micro for the first time.It worked beautifully for me ,for about 2 yrs. Then it started to leave burn like marks on my face,i had to stop it.Then i switched to Differin for about a yr,it worked ok ,not as well as the retin-a micro.Since it had been awhile that i had used retin-a micro, i had forgotten how it works.Like i said ive only been on it for about a week now.Im still getting tiny little pimples popping out.No big cystic ones, just alot of peeling ,and redness.Im wondering how long the peeling will continue,i'd like to be able to use makeup to cover it up.I want to go out sometime. Im surprised that my face is starting to look pretty decent in so short of time.I'm using neutrogena moisturizer for sensitive skin, but it doesn't seem to make my face feel any less tight.I'm just hoping i'm going to be one of the lucky ones that have a mild initial breakout. Most of the pimples i had that left a red mark are fading away.Im sorry that retin-a micro didnt work for you.I hope you find something that will. Thanks again for your reply.Take care.

Retin-A aggravated my skin when I used it, and I was on it for several months. However, this was years ago, and I don't know that it was a good product for teenage skin. My memories of it are having RED skin and more breakouts! From what I've heard, it can aggravate existing pimples, however, overall it will help the condition of your skin IF it works for you. I hope it works! Be very very careful about going out in the sun and wear a high SPF if you do.

Thanks for the replies. Now that im in it going on 3 weeks,i think i'll stick it out.Yes i will make sure i wear sunscreen when im outsideTake care.
