hi all

i have two bell 3100s and two 6100s in my house. i just bought two 9242s to take advantage of the pricing and availability. so..my total number of receivers is 6.

i was planning on replacing the 3100s with the 9242s but wondered if i can keep them ALL on m account?

i have looked and looked but am wondering the simple question:

do the 9242s count as one or two receivers due to their dual tuners? i believe i read somewhere on here it is not the number of tuners but receivers....so i should be ok to have them all active, right?

can someone help me or point me to the correct info?

thanks!

All dual tuners count as ONE receiver on the account, but count as TWO receivers installed if you install them professionally

Yes you could have 1X3100 + 1X6100 + 2X9200

so, i can have 2x3100 and 2x6100 and 2x9242?

thanks!

if that is the case, i will just need another couple of tv's!

No problems with even 6 x 9242's if you wanted to.

Just to clarify Ex Agents post, the number of "tuners" that a new "free" customer installation, is 4, NOT Receivers. So as a new customer, wanting a "free" installation you can have 4 x 3100's or 2 x 9242's etc.

There was a typo on a Programming Guide some time ago that stated 4 receivers, this was wrong.

Ahh, 4 tuners install for free? Is that for purchased receivers? I was told only the first one is free, and the second one is $50. and that's why I didn't go for it!! (I bought the 2nd receiver soon after). Too late now I guess as I have already got the installation done (9242 is my first one).

I thought I had edited my last post to include the words "New Rental Customers ONLY".

A New ORS (Outright Sale Customer) gets the first reciever free, rest are $50 per line.

I have always heard you could not have anymore then 6, but someone told me today that you can have as many as you want, but any after the first six is an additional cost.

Is this true, and if so what is the additional cost per receiver?

6 is the max on a residential account. That is 6 receivers NOT 6 Tuners.

Having said that, if you can make a good enough case and get through to the Executive Office, you might just get to add another 1 or 2 to the account but this is an exception.

Unless you get the exception Pinza mentioned, the "additional cost" is an extra subscription so it depends on what channels you subscribe the "additonal" receivers too.

This rule was put in place to stop "account sharing" (among other measures to stop/catch it). For the average person, 1 or 2 receivers is enough and 6 is a fairly decent maximum, although I think it should be easier to increase this value if you can show you legitimately have more installed in your home.

Prior to picking up the 9200 dual tuner PVR for example, I was running 4x5900 in my living room alone for example to handle recording more than one show at a time, capacity, redundancy, and live tv watching.
