ok i am big into kicking with martial arts. my favorite arts being tae kwon do, and different styles of gung fu involve many kicks and spins. i have been into them for many years but i still cant do a split. im very close with front splits *one leg foward one leg back* but im still far away with side splits *one leg left one leg right*

i have tried many many different stretching ways such as PNF, isometric squeez 30 second intervals, 5 min iso intervals, ive warmed up then stretch, ive stretched cold, ive held my maximum splits for 30 minutes, ive tried doing a split stretch every hour of the day ive bought stretching scientificaly the book, ive done the sumo method and stretched while holding weights etc

and none seem to work however i do notice with some of the books they tell you to stretch until you feel slight discomfort. now for me thats difficult to determine because i have a really good pain tolerence when it comes to muscle pain *being a weighttrainer we are in the mindset that pain is what helps you grow* so its hard to determine good pain from bad pain when it comes to stretching

for years now i will go as far as i can split wise and go so low as to the point my body will not let me go any farther or else i will probly tear a muscle.

so basicly what im saying is that i am obviously not doing something correctly so all the gymnists, martial artists, cheerleaders, or just flexible people; please give me some advice on how you got to do the splits and or any one you know. i am pretty desperate *arigato gozaimasu*
