My girlfriend is going through a hard time and I am desperate to help her.
Her parents , although they have the money, are not willing to pay for her college tuition, and since her parents make quite a bit of money, she cannot get enough financial aid to go to college.
On top of that, she currently has to work in a dangerous neighborhood that her step dad dragged her family into just so she can pay for rent (her step dad forces her to pay rent for living with them), her car payments, insurance, and other necessities.
I've been doing plenty of research on obtaining financial aid in this situation, and all I can come up with is having an Independent Student Status to get financial aid.
The only way we can get my girlfriend to have this Independent Student Status is via marriage.
I really love her, and I've been wanting to marry her even before we found out about her financial problem, but I've been wanting to give her a big wedding after my college graduation when I have the money.
In a way, I am asking two questions:
1) Can we get her the maximum amount of financial aid from us two getting married?
2) Is getting married during college "rushing it"?
Additional info:
I'm in college myself (first year)
My girlfriend should be the same year as me, but since her step dad dragged her out of state, she was not able to pay for college due to the out-of-state tuition.
She is planning to attend college the following school year.
