Luckily the damage caused by my acupuncture treatment last week is wearing off. My PT did an evaluation on Tuesday and is sending it to my doc so he'll have it when I go in tomorrow to find out why my thigh hurts so much. I'll let you know if I find out anything. Doubtful!! I'll get the patience lecture I just gave to you!!!

May I ask what happened at acupuncture? I missed something.

I am going to PT twice a week and see my acupuncturist (whom I also consider a friend) once per week. I mentioned to her that the PT had been using a TENS unit at L3-4. She told me we could try a new treatment where she would use an electrcal source with the needles which would provide a slightly more intense treatent.

I'm not really sure what happened. Everything felt comfortable enough during the treatment. But a couple hours later the off-and-on mild pain in my thigh became very intense, to the point that I couldn't put my full weight on it and I was walking with a limp. My friend, the acupuncturist, told me that she doesn't use the electrical stim. very often because people's reactions are unpredictable...some people respond strongly to it, as I had done. It has taken me a week for my leg to get back to its only mildly injured state!!

Did she hit the nerve? Oh my that sounRAB painful. I am so sorry and must admit I have been thinking about trying this but I am not so sure now.

I am lifting you up in prayer and hope that you are feeling better soon. (((Gentle Hugs)))

No, I don't think she hit the nerve...the needles don't go in that deeply. Nothing about the needling hurt. It was just after the fact that I had a strong reaction.

Just like we always say regarding healing from surgery, everyone responRAB in his or her own way; no two people react the same way, and I think that is also true for acupuncture. This is really the first time that I ever could tell a difference from a treatment, other than I do find it relaxing. Usually I have no idea if the treatment makes any difference or not.

She was telling me today about the success she is having using a cold laser to treat scar tissue. It sounRAB very interesting and I want to learn more.

Please keep us posted. I guess sometimes we have to endure a little pain before we see some benefit. That relieves me about the needles not going that deep. You might say that I have grown shy of the needles since my painful nerve block. LOL

You are up early today! I suppose you aren't able to sleep.

The needles are very thin and they don't go in very far...but we decided we won't try using the electrical stimulation. Even though I've read how accupuncture "works," it still seems pretty much like voodoo to me. :D
