My automobile injury was August 2008, diagnosed with Compressed Fracture L1/L5. My right foot nurabed in the healing process and pain became unbearable.
I had a series of 3 Epidural injections, no results then a series of 3 Facet injections no results, I had a Rhitzotomy with no effect on pain, Now there were slight relief with each process but the pain return. In this process i attended PT 4 different times totally 56 sessions including Aqua theraphy. the pain remains.
I had 4 MRI and there is no visable signs of disc injury.

I had a Disco gram, which was painful, I have not had the results of my Discogram/ CT but I do have the Disc, comparing my ct scan to others on line i find I know less than before, lol. One disc seems to have exploded with fragments on my CT Discogram, another seems to be folded sort of soft taco like. The CT with well over 500 images I am clueless.

I am told prior to the Disco Gram there may be Annular tears, as i await the results in pain, would someone provide a clue?

Ouch! sounRAB like you have been through the wringer. The Annular tears mean that the fluid is being releasedfrom between the discs.. The discs re separating the vertebrae have a gel like center that is surrounRAB by fibrous tissue. When there is a tear in the tissue, the gel is pushed out and this then becomes a herniated disc...lucky you! When the disc is hernitated, the vertebra tend to rub on each other. This is what it sounRAB like has happened-BUT I am no doctor, just another soul who has had two major back surgeries in a week and am now fused from T9-sacrum.

The compression fracture is causing your leg issue. IT is pressing on the nerve that goes down your leg and it is causing the nurabness. The longer it stays nurab, the more chance you run of doing permanent damage to that nerve.

Good luck, and I am sure that others more knowledgeable than I will chime it.

Hi, Justpain and welcome to the board. Ibakeandpray is right in what she has told you. May I ask what kind of doctor you are seeing for these problems? It should be either an Orthopedic Spine Specialist or a Neurosurgeon who specializes in spinal issues. No one else can compare to the knowledge these doctors have. They are the best at reading and interpreting test results and know what will help you the best.

It is wise to get more than one opinion of the problems and possible solutions and if the 2 doctors don't agree, get a 3rd opinion. It is very important to be sure as possible of what neeRAB to be done because you can't go back once you've had back surgery if, indeed, that is what is needed. Be very proactive in your care, research and research some more so that you understand what the diagnosis means and what possible remedies there are.

Please stay in touch and let us know how you are doing.....and feel free to ask any questions that might come to mind.

Blessings,

Carol
