My symptoms first started in january with a cold. I got better then it came back and would go away and come back. Shortness of breath, heart palpitations, and also regular cold symptoms (nose, throat, ears). The doctor kept saying I had a virus and it would just go away. It didn't. So I found a new doctor. She did a blood test and it showed I had an infection and it showed there was too much protein in my blood. She thought it was just an upper respiratory infection. I got antibiotics.
Then I started to get back/chest pains and she then thought I got pericarditis (inflammation around the heart). I felt awful. She gave me anti-inflammatory aspirin. I took that. I also got pain in my left side behind my ribs through my lower back (spleen maybe?). Eventually the pain went away. During this whole time I had ZERO appetite. Couldn't eat anything. I lost a ton of weight and missed work for almost 2 weeks.
She then suspected mono and did many more blood tests. I tested positive for mono. She also said my blood had too much calcium in it. And that my ANA test came back positive, but she did further testing from that and everything was fine.
I'm off all medication. Except xanax to help me sleep and calm the anxiety surrounding all this sickness. And the pain went away. Now I am just EXTREMELY tired and exhausted. Anything I do makes me totally exhausted, so all I can do is rest.
I'm just wondering what all of this means? Is it just a really bad case of mono or is something else going on as well based on my blood tests?
