I work at a truckstop restaurant.... i'm a server.... i about a week or week and a half ago had an issue with my car.... it wouldnt start.... dead battery.... I called my work about 2 1/2 - 3 hours before my shift to let them know that i was going to try to get a new battery and get it put in my car and ready to go... if by the time another co worker was comingi n ( 3pm ) if lets say i get the battery and it still doesnt start then ill be in at about 3pm cuz i was going to geta ride with that co worker... however i was not sure how long it would take to get the situation fixed.. and if it would take a little longer than 2pm ( the start of my shift ) or 3pm ( the start of another employees shift i was going to hitch a ride with ) i said i should hopefully not be any later than 3pm but i wasnt positive as to how long it would take but i would try to get in ASAP if that was OKAY????? and they said yeah thats fine and i apologized and they said dont worry about it these things happen jst get here as soon as u can and thanks for calling us in advance ect ect... i got to work about 4 or 430 they asked how it went and i told them not well i wasnt able to get the battery needed cuz hte place i went to didnt have one on hand however they did hoook mycar up to a charger whilethey called other stores and things and charged up my batteryto at least get me "homme" or to work.... i apologized for not calling to update them but i couldnt call cuz i dont haveacell phone.....everything was fine.... the other manager came in a short while later and the manager that was there that i talked to left.... and next thing i know the manager who just came in about an hour after she got there....calls me to the office and gave me a write up...... i think its BS but i dealt with it and went about my night at work.... well just two days ago i get a call my little siter is sick t school and they cant reach my mom.... so i had to go pick her up. i call my work... about 30-45 mins before my shift and explain to them the situaion.... tell them i shouldnt be too terribly late it only takesme about 15mins to get to her school with decent traffic. so i was hoping that i wouldnt be late at all or at least that terribly late.... i was going to rush there to get her and figure out the situation and then get into work... i would be there shortly and wouldnt be that late i was thinkin... was that okay... they said yyah thats fine just get here ASAP because the woman id be relieving gets grouchy if she has to stay at all past 2pm.... and so i said im sorry ill get there ASAP i would try someone else to pick her up however i cant because they wont let anyone pick up a child from school unless they are on the kids emergency list or it is okayed by the parentwhich they couldnt reach my mom.... so i got to work at about 2:30...2:45 at the latest... so iw as l ike 30-45 mins late.... the manager asked what was goin on how things went and i told her and it was all fine and i did apologize again.... it was fine.... about an hour later im called into the office and she says she was "told" by the other manager to write me up... so i get a 2nd write up and she said the 3rd one im sorry but we'd have to let u go if that happens.... i thought it was BS....but again dealt with it....
I found out tho this manager that waited and wrote me up and then told the other manager to do so.... i found out that she told another co worker that pretty much she has it out forme and wants to get me fired and its because of personal jealousy issues ( co worker says my looks ) and also because thers a guy who works at the gas station attached to our restaurant that she likes and apparently he mentioned something around her or to her about him thinking i was hott and a couple other personal things that my co worker refers to as "jealousy"
Im needing opinions from anyone.... employees... managers.... Human resources... ect ect... is this "Legal" to write me up for me being alte but it was excused before my shift and so forth... and that it was a personal emergency and then a family emergency.....
I am wanting to talk to my HR director ( human resources ) tomorrow about it however i'm afraid that if the HR lady mentions it to the management that then it will turn into a retaliation sitation and then she really will have it out for me then...but at the same time i dont feel this is right at all and that i'm being in a sense "picked on" due to apersonal vendetta....
