This is the first time I will be breeding my mastiff, so I'm a little new to the whole thing. We will be going with the implant method and of course, need to the the progestrone tests. My question is this.... about a week ago my male pug started showing a little interest in her. Kind of sniffing but nothing major. Yesterday, she wasn't bleeding but he was going CRAZY! Today, she still isn't bleeding and he's not showing interest anymore. So, should I assume that she isn't yet in heat or should I start testing 5 days from yesterday? She was a heavy bleeder during her first heat and the pug was consistantly going nuts the entire time...so maybe he can just sense that she's about to be in heat? (and no, I'm not breeding her with the pug..lol)
I have a female mastiff and a male pug. Yes, people do have more than one kind of dog. I'm saying that he is showing interest in her....which leads me to assume that she is going into heat or possibly already is. Her heat cycles went may, november...so it should be may again. The reason I'm asking here is because I can't get ahold of her until Saturday and I'm just curious so I know what to plan for.
