I have to make up a plot line for a sci-fi movie for Biology class. This is a very minor detail in the whole movie but I had to include something about one of the organ systems as part of the assignment. Its about the nervous system.
So my idea is that there are two groups of humans . One group has a miserable life. Every one of them has chronic depression from being constantly put down about how ugly they are. And every person in the other group has the happiest, most perfect life. They are beautiful, successful, and smart. Their neurons are used to being constantly flooded with neurotransmitters that make them happy from being constantly praised. The depressed group, who has less neurotransmitters in their brains/nervous systems has evolved (over millions of years) from being chronically depressed to not having any emotional responses.
Its a very rough idea. And I don't know enough about the nervous system to make it into something that makes sense and is in smart people terms. So can you please tell me if this is at all plausible (remember, it is science-fiction) and help me explain it a little better. Thank you so much I really appreciate it!
