Make the new iPhone talk part of Teh New Hotness!

No one in tech or the mac shack is talking about the new iPhone that is supposed to drop on Monday. I think it belongs here...a lot of speculation and crazy rumors circulating - and at Monday's event all the news drops on that AND we should be able to put programs on the iPhone this week too.

Well....I guess I should rephrase that - the forums here that would talk about those topics get very little traffic (kinda like the music one here...barely ever talk of anything) whereas this one usually gets some good discussion going on the newest shit happening in tech. The iPhone news was here - this is a new iPhone, and the 2.0 firmware is pretty major for current iphone owners.

Just thought it would be cool to hear what other OTers have to say about all the shit going on next week at the developers conference, sometimes a message board is a cool way to discuss the news and you hear things that you might have missed if you're into this sort of thing (like I am)...

no big deal, though - there are other places to read about it, but it is NEW and HOT so this wouldnt be a bad spot for it.

We should talk about the stick shoved way up your ass instead.

im sure there wont as well. I dont know how to feel though, 3g is nice and all but if the only changes are gps 3g and an updated look its not gonna be all that after all. Now if that photo with the front view camera is real video chat would be badass.

who will have a live text stream of the conference, i have a terible class from 1-3 that i could use my iphone in.

3g would be nice. While I dont use my iPhone to browse the internet for hours on end, just a few minutes a day while bored at work. The 3g speed would be nice im sure for those times I do use the internet alot. GPS on the other hand would be badass. I do lots of camping and backpacking and GPS could come in handy im sure. I dont care about the video conferencing to much now. Sounds cool, just dont see myself using it much if at all.

i guess its one of those features im excited about but wont use much, like mms. I guess i wont miss 3g because im usually on a college campus including work so the wifi there >*. GPS is really nice but im not driving atm so i dont need it right now.

Apparently there were some huge deliveries by boat recently to the Apple warehouses so it's possible that they'll be available tomorrow - maybe not in the stores til later in the week - but I think whatever they made is produced and in the states so we won't be hearing about a product then waiting 5 months like last time.

If it's only 3G I don't think I'll be running to get one. But I think there will be some other pretty cool shit that will make me want to upgrade.

I'm hearing rumors of video chat - definitely something I could see being cool for a couple calls then never used but it would also make it so you can take pictures in the other direction which was a complaint before.

GPS would definitely be awesome. I found myself using Google Maps way more often than I thought I would. I think I'd use GPS pretty regularly.

Not sure what else Apple has up their sleeves that will be "new"..but I'm sure they're going to have to have some major shit to entice the current owners to want to upgrade. I'm really pumped. 14 hours

i was going to get one of the "old" iphones a couple months ago but heard about this one so decided to hold out..is it just being announced or is actually being released tommorow because ill buy it if its going to be released.

The only time I use WiFi is when I'm at a friends house or my church. No need for it at home, thats what my MacBook is for.

Oh yeah its very possible, and I would love to see it happen. I just dont think it will. I would love to come to this thread and say I was wrong.

I used google maps way more then I thought I every would as well. Comes in handy when looking for places to eat or addresses.

16gb or 32gb Not sure which one I would get. If there is even a 32gb. I currently have 4gb that I bought the week of launch. And I still have 1gb left on it but with the Apps coming out i will want to load up some games and cool apps, im leaning towards the 16gb. But i'll see what pricing is like.

Any word (rumor) if rate plans will change with AT&T? or stay the same.

it's over with and we know most of the details

8gb, black, $199
16gb, white, $299

3G, GPS, no recessed headphone jack, plastic casing with metal buttons, etc.

July 11

And it's aGPS, assisted GPS, so you'll have to pay $10/mo to use it, just like all the other AT&T smartphones with GPS. At least this is what I heard. That right there is a kill for that purchase.
