Majoring in Non-Interest as Upper Classmen; Army an Option?

I am a junior who transferred from a very rural campus to one in the middle of a city, a more urban area like where I grew up. That was about the only positive thing about the transition. I wanted to switch so that I could major in film studies (I want to be a screenwriter and do something with the all the stories in my head), which the first school did not offer.

At the last minute (at orientation) I realized this would set me back too many credits and I would have to pay for the cost of production. My dad was laid off work the year before and refused to put me through college another 6 or 7 semesters. So I kept journalism, which I make good grades in. (I got an "A" in a writing class my professors told me they only a "B"s in) The 3.6 GPA is good, but this is getting very tedious. Sitting in a newsroom writing all day is my worst nightmare.

What I want to do is use the stories that fueled my imagination for years to write screenplays, which this is a good school for. My cousin Jack DiNorscio had a movie called "Find Me Guilty" written about him. I talk to relatives on that side of the family who are close to that writer all the time. That genre (organized crime) is one of my favorites and those are some of my favorite shows.

If I can't write stories like that, I want to do something psychically stimulating with meaning to it. Nothing defines that better than The Army. My roommate last year was entering the Academy to be a PA State Trooper and that was his "calling," which he read poems to his girlfriend about. I want something in my life like that and would be willing to sacrifice my life for this country. I would graduate college first and then decide where to enlist. I'm in good shape, other than spraining my ankle a while ago, and can run a 7-minute mile (or fastest speed on treadmill for about 10 minutes). I can bench about a plate more than my body weight of 160 too. Does anybody who understands these feelings of not having direction have advice for me?
