I'm a senior in high school thinking about going to the Art Institute of Houston. I'm planning on talking to them about it, but until then I need some help. I can't pick between graphic design and animation. I'd like to somehow get into the game design industry. (but they don't offer the major in Houston) Does anybody know which degree it would be easier to get into or does it depend on what exactly I want to do with games?
Just a little about me -- I'm in AP art right now so I'm currently putting together a 2-D Design Portfolio. I've always loved art and I'm good at drawing and with colored pencil. I also love computers, I'm decent in Photoshop and I like Video Tech and making animated gifs, etc. And obviously I'm a huge video game fan and have always been interested in helping make them. Umm.. that's about it. Sometimes it's hard to get my creative juices flowing, but I do have the technical skills to back it up. If that makes any sense.
Does any body know any pros and cons of graphic design or animation? Anything about the Art Institute in general or in Houston? Which degree should I go for? Any other comments/suggestions/warnings? Thanks =]
